ASTORINO ANNOUNCES SENIOR LAW DAY SET FOR OCTOBER 20
County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that the 16th annual Senior Law Day will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, at the County Center in White Plains. The free event will feature 18 workshops on elder law topics, plus free 15-minute, one-on-one consultations with some of the county’s leading legal, financial and geriatric care experts. Parking is also free.
An estimated 6,000 seniors, family members and caregivers have benefited from Senior Law Day since it began in 1999. The program is expected to attract more people than ever this year thanks to an advertising campaign across the Metro-North Railroad that will be supported entirely by private sector funds.
Senior Law Day will provide a wealth of useful information and resources, including:
- Workshops covering everything from estate and financial planning to health care and affordable housing, taxes, wills, trusts, and much more, including two workshops in Spanish.
- A free copy of “MAP: My Aging Plan,” a booklet that details what individuals and families can do from their 20’s through their 80’s and beyond to age successfully.
- Review of long-term care policies (participants should bring a copy of their policy to the event).
- Copies (upon request) of the 16th edition of “Elder Law Q&A: An Introduction to Aging Issues and Planning for the Future,” in both English and Spanish.
Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Visit www.westchestergov.com/seniors or call (914) 813-6300 to sign up. Seniors can register for the one-on-one consultations on the day of the event.
Questions can be emailed anytime to firstname.lastname@example.org or tweeted to @seniorlawday.
